In July 2012, I took a trip out west in search of some good mountain-driving roads.  I found them and some fun things to see and do.

I flew into Denver International Airport and drove straight to the Cog train to see Pike's Peak

In the afternoon I drove to Canon City and rode on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad the next day.

Leaving Canon City, I drove to Cortez, Colorado to see Mesa Verde National Park the next day.

Afterwards, I drove to Telluride in the afternoon and ended my day's travel in Ouray, Colorado.  The next day, I spent July 4th in town.

While staying in Ouray, I took an off-road, four-wheel driving adventure.  We drove the back roads from Ouray to Silverton, Colorado, seeing ghost towns, mines and great scenery along the way.

Leaving Ouray, I drove to Gunnison National Park to see the Black Canyon.

Leaving Gunnison, I drove to Aurora, Colorado.  I enjoyed a good meal at a local BBQ restaurant and rested up for my flight back home the next day.
