I like leaving early and getting to the destination and hit the ground running, but this flight was painfully early.

The airport was empty at 4:20am.  I found out the airport doesn't open till 4am, but the workers aren't ready till 4:15am.

After arriving in Calgary, I picked up the rental car and noticed everything was set to metric.

The first stop before heading to the hotel for the night was Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump.

The museum was built into the mountain as to blend in with the natural surroundings.

The museum at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump was very informative.

The museum has multiple floors with a cafeteria.

The story passed down from generation to generation is that over 1000 years ago, Indians in the area would herd buffalo and cause them to stampede and fall over the cliffs to the canyon floor.  This made hunting the buffalo very easy.

Unfortunately, one day after hunting, they found a young indian at the bottom of the cliff along with the slaughtered buffalo.  The young Indian's head was smashed in.  They named the buffalo jump site after him.
